Development

From 2018 – Roll-out of Xrail Capacity Booking (XCB)

  • In 2019, Fret SNCF joins the Alliance, thereby significantly expanding the Xrail network
  • By end of 2020, DB Cargo fully connected its domestic booking system to the XCB broker
  • Currently, the networks of Green Cargo and Fret SNCF are also being connected to the XCB Broker. Seamless, capacity-booked transports will then be available across the entire Xrail network once the connection is completed

2013 to 2017 – Launch of the Xrail Capacity Booking (XCB) initiative

  • Beginning of 2013, the members pledge themselves to an industry change to develop a sustainable model for the European Single Wagonload
  • From 2013 to 2015, Xrail successfully manages to derive common standards and processes for Capacity Booking and develops a state-of-the-art broker system at a central level
  • In October 2015, CFL cargo, Lineas, Rail Cargo Group and SBB Cargo initially link their booking systems via the XCB broker and thereafter pilot the new system

2010 to 2012 – Founding of the Alliance and initial steps

  • Beginning of 2010, the Xrail Alliance is formally founded and its legal service entity established with headquarters in Brussels, Belgium
  • From 2010 to 2012, Xrail develops a first set of IT tools to provide international transport plans, status messages and Track & Trace information automatically on selected transport relations
  • In November 2010, SBB Cargo and Xrail receive the Swiss Logistics Award for their innovative solution to enable a more competitive European Wagonload offer
